Scene 7: At the police station

At a time when the working day was already over our hero was brought to the police station. His case is entrusted to an experienced and seemingly rather tired person.

He begins the investigation with a bit more passion than usual – after all, despite the fact that in his 15 years of service he has already seen absolutely everything – he feels that this case is not like the rest of the cases. In addition, the director of the bank is personally interested in the earliest possible clarification of circumstances – he wants to know where the security breach is.

So, during interrogation, the detective’s main task is not to investigate the motives of the crime – here everything is clear, but he to find out all the details of the robbery.

Our hero is lucky, the owner of the bank is not disposed to revenge, but rather to eliminate the vulnerability of the bank vault, which has already cost him one good client and can lead to complete bankruptcy if the public finds out about the incident. Besides, the robbery wasn’t successful.

Therefore, taking into account the rather young age of the robber, John is being offered a deal – if our he tells how he got into the vault – he will be released on bail which the bank is even ready to pay itself, in exchange for silence about what happened. Because even after they will close the breach – any extra publicity will cast a shadow on the Bank’s reputation.

The detective sits John on a chair standing next to his cluttered table. All along with it, he is explaining the details of the deal:

The detective

Listen guy, even for an attempted robbery you can get from 5 to 7 years in jail – not the best reason to skip College… But you are lucky – today can be your second birthday – we have a deal for you. Tell us how you got into the bank’s vault, sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) and you’re free as a bird.

Detective takes a new folder for a new case, opens it and takes a pen. He pointedly looks at our hero, as if to say that he already can begin to tell about what happened.

Our hero willingly tells his story about how he can pass through objects, doors and even walls:

Our Hero

Sir, for a couple of days I feel weird. And today I’ve discovered that I have the superpower to go through things… But then in the bank I changed my mind… But something has changed and I couldn’t get out of it…

Without writing anything down, the detective wearily and with great distrust were looking at our hero, showing with all his appearance how stupid John’s words sound.

Our Hero

Detective, why don’t you write anything down? I’m telling the truth. Don’t you believe me?

To that desperate question, detective just tiredly points out the fact that our Houdini is sitting in handcuffs and adds:

The detective

Listen guy, you were offered the best deal that I have ever heard of, but you are holding us for fools!? Please, just tell the truth, so we both could go home.

Our Hero

But it is the truth.

The detective

(clearly crafty and not taking this conversation seriously, the detective suggests)

All right, let’s make another deal – you go through this fairly slim handcuffs and I will let you go.

Our hero makes an effort – he looks at the handcuffs and tries to concentrate on them, but nothing happens.

The detective

(angrily closing the folder without writing anything down)

Wow, do you truly believe in it? Or is it just good acting?!

Detective angrily closes the folder without writing anything down:

The detective

So you really want to say, that you can go through any objects and even walls, but you can’t even get out of handcuffs? Okay, sit in the cell until tomorrow.

The detective wearily and slightly annoyed leads our hero into the camera, locking him, he says:

The detective

Sit and think about whether you want to believe in your fairy tales and maybe tomorrow in the morning you will understand that telling the truth is in your own interests. And if not, then tomorrow you will spend the night in a cell with them (pointing to the next cell full of criminals).
