John comes to one private bank in the city. He often passed it in the morning going from work to the hostel.
He sneaks through a fence to the courtyard of the building. It’s very quiet here. The fence was supposed to guard people around from the noise of the building works, but it was a long time ago. The property developer become bankrupt and since then nothing happens here and even the fence has got numerous breaches.
John stands right in the front of the wall, preparing himself for a very risky business. To conspire, he puts on a mask and a hood, kind of the green arrow had. He looks around once more time to be sure nobody can see him and slowly begins passing through the wall.
He did not see a homeless man, who was “living” under the fence. And this man has been quiet all the time – he didn’t want his shelter, well covered with old rusty building materials and armature, to be discovered.
Having penetrated the vault, John rejoices at his success, then quickly gathers his courage and begins to randomly rake cash into the bag that he took with him and into the pockets of his jacket.
Having decided that it’s enough for the first time, he is going to “exit”. But just before he leaves, he sees a fuzzy reflection of himself in the shiny doors of the safes. He does not recognize himself and feels a certain embarrassment that he wants to make the easy money using his gift in this way.
That makes him freeze in place. He recalls how he was feeling when he was looking at the other students at the school, who had everything – love from the parents, new things, clothes, telephones, skateboards and more, while he was getting everything already used and outdated. He also envied the attention that the girls from the same hostel showed these guys.
John wanted to know how is it like to have all of it, and this desire has pushed him on this path, but can this money fill that gap in his soul, which was growing since his parents disappeared, and he was brought to the shelter?
He decides not to take the money – he’s changed his mind about robbing the Bank. He can’t put the money in his place, so he simply knocks down the contents of the bag and pockets of his jacket on the table in the middle of the room.
After making sure that there is not a dollar left in the bag, he is ready to leave. He leans against the wall… But something goes “wrong”. He can’t go through the same wall he entered through just a few minutes ago! Our hero begins to worry.
Our Hero
(speaking to himself)
What’s happening? Wrong wall?
He tries to find exactly the place where he came from and even takes the same position, as if it should help. But nothing happens!
He starts to panic a bit more. He drops the bag and wants to leave, even leaving this evidence. But that doesn’t help either.
Our Hero
(speaking to himself)
What happened to me?
In that desperation, he takes out his shabby wallet and scoops out all the little things that he had – only three dollars – and throws them on the floor of the vault, as if assuming that what he did is a bad thing, and so he can pay off from the higher powers. And again adjoins the wall. But all in vain…
At the next moment, the storehouse door is unlocked and a manager with a client and a security guard come in. The guard sees our hero clinging to the wall. Everyone is in shock and cannot believe their eyes.
The bank client
(looking around)
I think I can not keep all my family jewelry in such a place, where even a young boy can sneak into.
And wight after that just a few seconds it takes before John gets handcuffed.
